David Ramirez, Thomas Csorba (Greeley, CO)

"It's not easy for a writer to maintain the aura of the unspoken in a song. Music and the space surrounding it intensify the impact of confession; the true challenge comes in giving voice to a narrator who's tongue-tied, or simply reticent. Texas singer-songwriter David Ramirez does so beautifully…” — NPR Music

How do you write love songs when you’re heartbroken? How do you sing about hope and passion when yours is lost? How do you finish an album when the relationship that inspired it has ended?

Dog Park Dissidents, The Weekend Run Club
X

Dog Park Dissidents are a queer punk rock band from New Orleans, Long Island, and Philadelphia. Featuring Zac Xeper (he/they, lead vocals), Jon Greco (he/him, guitar), Joe Bove (he/him, bass), Zeke Xander (they/them, drums), and Skylar Stravinsky (she/they, guitar). They bend genres, genders, and decency, blending old-school anarchist punk energy with contemporary pop punk and flamboyant low camp. Also, they are dogs.

Since releasing their breakout viral single Queer as in Fuck You in 2017, Dog Park Dissidents has been gaying up the punk rock scene with their high-energy, high-chaos live shows. Across two vicious and ambitious albums, the band shoves their deviant lifestyle in mainstream rock's face, frightening parents and causing widespread moral panic.

Grayson Jenkins (Colorado Springs)
X

Grayson Jenkins is a singer, songwriter, and natural born storyteller born and raised in Muhlenberg County, KY on a small farm in the heart of coal country. Now residing in Nashville, by way of Lexington, KY, Jenkins has dedicated the past several years to the craft of songwriting and performing his brand of Country/Folk music around the U.S. and Canada. Like fellow Kentuckians, Sturgill Simpson and Keith Whitley, Grayson has carved out his own corner in country music through the release of four independent records. His releases have garnered the attention of American Songwriter and The Bluegrass Situation, and he has made festival appearances at Railbird Music Festival, Master Musicians Festival, and more.

With a hopeful resignation and canny insight into the ways of the world, Jenkins delivers songs influenced by his own life experiences, cross-country travels, and turns of phrases found in the rich storytelling communities across Kentucky and beyond.

Humbird, Frail Talk
X

It feels good to be right. But what about when you’re not so sure? There’s something humane about uncertainty and having the guts to try, even if you might be wrong. This is the central tenet of Humbird’s third album, Right On, a radical ethos worth turning up the amps for.

Siri Undlin and her collaborators tracked live and to tape over two weeks in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Anger and dismay sizzle in response to current events, with heartbreak feeling like sandpaper and wildflowers bobbing in an ever-expanding universe.

Produced by Shane Leonard and featuring Pat Keen (bass, synth, percussion) and Pete Quirsfeld (drums, percussion), most songs showcase a locked-in rock trio, progressing from Undlin’s previous contemplative folk musings. Right On also incorporates whimsical, soundscape-y improvisations—electrified, gritty, Midwest Americana with a bit of magic.

The title track “Right On” opens with resigned tenacity, transforming “being wrong” into guiding wisdom. Other notable tracks include “Child Of Violence,” exploring white supremacy in middle America; “Cornfields and Roadkill,” reminiscent of Tom Petty; and “Song For The Seeds,” a slow-burning synth number.

Undlin, inspired by her extensive folklore and musical research as a Watson Fellow, toured DIY across North America, including backyard shows during the pandemic. Following Pharmakon and Still Life, Right On witnesses the world’s complexity with candid consideration.

Right On is a kind offering for fans and new listeners alike: songs that embrace the possibility that we’re sometimes right, often wrong, but music meets us where we are and keeps us company.

Radkey
X

Growing up in small-town Saint Joseph, Mo., brothers Dee, Isaiah, and Solomon Radke enrolled in rock 'n' roll high school as their ticket out of Nowheresville. The brothers played their first show opening for Fishbone in 2011 and haven't looked back since. In 2013, the Cat & Mouse and Devil Fruit EPs took Radkey from sweaty backroom punk gigs to storming festivals in the UK and U.S. Radkey then enlisted Arctic Monkeys producer/mixer, Ross Orton, to produce their debut record, Delicious Rock Noise. The result was an across-the-board detonation of several shades of rock, punk, and wild abandon - and riffs, riffs, riffs. 2019 brought the release of No Strange Cats, produced with Bill Stevenson (Descendents) at The Blasting Room where Radkey's sound continued to expand and mature, reflected in the sleek guitar and growing bass. The 2020 self-release of Radkey’s third album, GREEN ROOM on Little Man Records has been described as “A rock album for the 21st Century” (Atwood Magazine) made up of thick, slick rock and roll sounds built on power chords and hypnotic vocal melodies. Radkey is rocking into 2023 with more new single releases and a full album on the horizon. They continue to tour nationally and internationally supporting bands such as Foo Fighters, Jack White, Rise Against, The Damned, WIZO, Descendents, Local H, and most recently The Offspring. Radkey is a testament to the future of music, and this band is primed for rock and roll glory.

Kaleb Sanders (Denver, CO)
X

Kaleb Sanders is an up-and-coming “Pop Country” Artist based out of Nashville, Tennessee. Having grown up in a small town in Central Florida, Kaleb is familiar with the ‘southern lifestyle’, having spent most of his days working on his family farm, caring for animals, fixing fence and operating a tractor.

Kaleb’s unshakable passion for music literally runs through his veins, stemming from generations of musicians on both sides of his family. Shortly after the passing of his bluegrass picking grandfather, Kaleb realized he wanted to pursue nothing else but music for the rest of his life. He immediately dropped out of college with the intention of learning how to play guitar and sharpening his voice.

Influenced by a wide variety of music, from John Mayer to Drake, Incubus to Jason Aldean, and Matchbox Twenty to Post Malone. Kaleb considers himself genreless, and doesn’t care to be boxed into a category.

Expect Kaleb to stay true to himself by sharing his soulful writing style and authentic vocals that will be reflected in his upcoming releases.

Kind Hearted Strangers
X

Drawing from all corners of the country, Kind Hearted Strangers began in the foothills of Colorado -  where an impromptu open mic performance by songwriter Marc Townes quickly evolved into a dynamic touring band capable of bridging the gap between all out rock n’ roll and their harmony-driven roots. Since the release of the debut record “East // West” in 2021, the band has grown into a road-driven force, hungry for live music, delivering high-energy rock shows across the country.

-

Released April 7th, 2023 - the band’s 2nd LP entitled “Now.here” features a collaboration with visual artist/painter Dylan Lynch. This immersive project found the band working in a shared Richmond, VA warehouse space for 5 days.

With no prepared material, the artists intentionally put pressure on themselves to create and deliver a Live Concert & Art Exhibition at the end of the week. The resulting album contains brand new material that was recorded live with the same raw energy and passion KHS has been delivering across the country during their busiest year of touring to date.
